Our hens are sheltered in small insulated coups within predator proof pen. Cosy in winter and and cool in summer with plenty of air flow and shade.  At first light they stretch, eat, drink and go about chicken business, laying eggs and socialising.  After 10:30am, the pen gates are opened and the girls range freely.
